The economy in Western Canada is not great, and it has left many entrepreneurs and business owners searching for the next trend to be a part of. We have compiled a list of some of the trends to watch out for in 2017.
1. Social E-Commerce
As more social platforms seek to exploit revenue opportunities, so too will retailers and service providers follow on these platforms. It’s very much a worthwhile endeavour to formulate a social commerce strategy in 2017 to help exploit the Facebook, WeChat, Linkedin and Twitter promotional opportunities.
Facebook is taking some of the largest steps forward with advertisements, offers and job postings; however, many of the other social sites will be soon to follow.
2. Locational Marketing
Geo-Location, Wifi Mapping and GPS technologies have taken large steps forward in the last couple of years. It is only a matter of time until our smart devices notify us of offers near our current locations.
3. On-Demand Delivery
In the last couple of years, on-demand delivery will be more accessible to smaller businesses and consumers as app makers launched on-demand applications such as Uber, Clutter, Deliveroo, Taskrabbit and more. Look for this to continue over the next couple of years as more competition to these companies flood the market.
4. Virtual Items
New game such as Pokemon Go and Yugioh Duel Links took the app world by storm in 2016. People very quickly moved about to fill their virtual backpack and decks with virtual monsters and items. Games will continue to use the Freemium Business Model to offer free downloads of their application while pushing the limits of virtual items within. Business ideas in this space will continue to thrive and develop in the years to come.
If you have a business or are working on a startup in one of these spaces, we would like to hear from you and to feature your business in an Insights Post.
